From a form printer to one of the leading dialogue marketing service providers in Germany

The first decade of the 21st century
  • 2008
    The company Datacolor Dialog-Medien GmbH Lüneburg celebrates its 30th anniversary on 01/10/2008.
  • 2007
    The corporate investment company "NordHolding" takes over the majority interest in the companies "Datacolor Dialog-Medien GmbH" and "Rotakon Rollenoffsetdruck GmbH".
    In the middle of the year, the two companies merge into "Datacolor Dialog- Medien GmbH".
    Another construction project with about 600 m² of space is completed in Öhringen. The objective here is to take a fast and efficient path to the optimisation of lettershop work, final processing of the finishing production and even hand packaging.
  • 2005
    Completion of the new production facility in Lüneburg and expansions in the sector Fulfilment. The well-known reel-fed offset printing/finishing company, Rotakon Rollenoffsetdruck GmbH in Öhringen, Baden-Württemberg, becomes a part of the "Datacolor Corporate Group" as of 1 May.
  • 2004
    Decision to build a new production facility with enough space for 3 large rotations (a total of 2,400 m²). Construction begins in the autumn.
  • 2003
    The company celebrates its 25th anniversary on 1 October.
  • 2001
    Company name changed to Datacolor Dialog-Medien GmbH. Construction of a new security building for the manufacture of smart cards and transponder tickets and a high bay warehouse.
  • 2000
    Certification in accordance with TU4 (Telekom). The company invests almost DM 10 million in new technology in the sectors card production and lettershop.
The 1990s
  • 1998
    Expansion of the total production area to 20,000 m²
  • 1994
    Certification of the chip card sector in accordance with DIN ISO 9002. 1993, when the health insurance vouchers were replaced by the health insurance card, Datacolor became "smart" and built its own chip card production facility. When the health insurance voucher is replaced by the health insurance card, the company invests in chip card production. A production volume of several million chip cards makes Datacolor an important partner for health insurance companies.
  • 1991
    Datacolor moves: the company finds a new home in the recently established industrial park "Lüneburg Haven" featuring 17,000 m² of office and production space and good transport connections to Hamburg and Hanover. The new facility is in compliance with the strict security regulations which are a prerequisite for the processing of address data.
The 1980s
  • 1989
    The company building is slowly, but surely, becoming too small, so management decides to build a completely new facility which can offer enough space for long-term plans as well. A plot with an area of more than 60,000 m² is purchased.
  • 1983
    The production of personalised health insurance voucher books and the first mailings begin with the procurement of the necessary printing presses.
The 1970s | The Beginning
  • 1978
    Harald Meier and Heinz-Günter Hübenthal establish Datacolor Computerformulare Harald Meier + Partner OHG; its initial activities include the production of document reader forms, fanfold forms and multiple-copy forms. By deciding to establish a general partnership, the partners take a clear stand with regard to responsibility and accountability.
